National Grid has proposed a 60km new electricity transmission line from Weston Marsh to Leicestershire East, in addition to two new substations and the upgrade of approximately 55km of existing overhead transmission line.
The proposed route runs right through our communities such as Corby Glen and North and South Witham.
I will be working with members of our communities to oppose these plans and urge National Grid to put forward alternatives, such as creating an offshore grid or moving to underground networks which won’t destroy our high quality agricultural land and harm our rural way of life.
We all want to play our part in conserving our environment for the next generation, and that’s why National Grid needs to re-think its approach to energy security.
