Protect Food Security

Farming

As a country, we need to celebrate our local food producers, recognise their environmental stewardship and reduce the burdens they face. Farming is at the heart of so many of our communities across Rutland and Stamford, and I have been passionate about standing up for our local farmers who work so tirelessly to feed our nation.

In May, after three years’ of campaigning, I secured national protections for agricultural land from solar developments, guidance for more solar on roofs, and for farmland to be at the centre of planning decisions.

I also secured a significant increase in fines for fly-tipping and new criminal offences of hare coursing and livestock worrying.

Protecting our farmland and best agricultural land is vital, and I will always raise my voice for our farmers. Let's buy British and shout about our amazing local farmers and food producers!
