Alicia Kearns MP today asked Prime Minister Keir Starmer MP to explain why his Government will be imposing a 2,000% business rates increase on local pub The Bertie Arms in Uffington, Lincolnshire.
Alicia Kearns, Member of Parliament for Rutland and Stamford, said:
“Today I raised the plight of The Bertie Arms and pubs across our communities who are struggling following the Government’s hiking up of their business rates.
“A 2,000% increase in their business rates by 2029 will absolutely decimate this lovely pub, and Uffington will lose the heart of its community.
“I was deeply disappointed that rather than offer a helping hand to our pubs and rural communities, or offering to review the impact of his decision on our pubs, the Prime Minister launched an inaccurate political attack.”
