Alicia Kearns MP has written to the Leader of Lincolnshire County Council asking for Stamford to have its own consultation event on Local Government Re-Organisation.
Alicia Kearns, Member of Parliament for Rutland and Stamford, said:
"These reforms will determine how our community is served for decades to come and it’s only fair residents in Stamford get as much say as other towns across Lincolnshire.
"I’ve also urged LCC to actually consult on all proposed options, rather than focusing solely on their preferred outcome of one single Council for the whole of Lincolnshire which so many residents have already told me you don’t want!
"Consultation should be about listening, reflecting and adapting – not simply trying to sell a single, pre-ordained idea to the public. It’s extraordinary how many of our Councils seem to not understand this."
