On Friday 14th March 2025 Alicia Kearns MP will host the first Rutland and Stamford Disability Forum to widen awareness of the local support organisations available and identify how to better support those living with disabilities across Rutland, Stamford, South Kesteven and the Harborough villages.
The Disability Forum will take place from 10.15 - 12.00 at The Barnsdale, The Avenue, Exton, Oakham, Rutland, LE15 8AH.
The first 45 minutes, from 10:15am-11:00am, will be an opportunity for attendees to interact and meet various local organisations who are service providers, charities and community groups that support those with a whole range of disabilities in the area. Alicia aims to widen awareness of some of the organisations working locally to improve support available to all.
From 11:00-12:00 the organisations will come together in a series of roundtable discussions where attendees can share and reflect on their own experiences of living with a disability in Rutland and Stamford. Topics will include: transport, leisure, education and skills, employment, housing and health. Alicia will take away the discussions had and identify what can be done to better support those living with disabilities locally.
Attendees can register to sign up here.
Alicia is inviting local support providers, charities and community groups to host a ‘stall’ at the Forum to share information and advice about the services they provide to attendees. There is no cost. Interested groups should email [email protected]
Alicia Kearns, Member of Parliament for Rutland and Stamford, said:
“I want to do all I can to support those living with a disability in our communities, so this Forum will be an important opportunity to hear your direct experiences about what more can be done to improve accessibility and services locally.
“Working with our service providers, charities and community groups, together I am hopeful we can raise awareness of the support available to all and make our communities more inclusive.”
