Alicia Kearns MP has presented a joint petition with Peter Bedford MP and Neil O'Brien MP to Government. The petition received over 12,000 signatures opposing a takeover of the Harborough villages by Leicester's Mayor.
Alicia Kearns, Member of Parliament for Rutland and Stamford, said:
"Leicester City Council’s proposal for Local Government Reform doesn’t just include the villages on the city boundary, but instead it is for all of the Harborough District to be taken over by Leicester city.
"This is a huge land and tax grab by the City Mayor. I will continue to do all I can to oppose these proposals and protect our Harborough villages."
