Alicia Kearns MP has re-launched Rutland’s Great Dementia Conversation, aiming to drive up awareness, increase diagnoses and end the hesitancy and stigma that too often exists around dementia.

More information about how to get involved and the support available in Rutland for those living with dementia, their carers and family members can be found on Alicia's Rutland Dementia website.

The most recently available NHS England data shows the dementia diagnosis rate for Rutland is 53.9% (June 2024), compared to the national rate of 65% for England.

Alicia Kearns, Member of Parliament for Rutland and Stamford, said:

“Following a pause due to the election, I’m looking forward to re-starting our county-wide conversation to drive up our diagnosis rates and ensure our communities are as supportive as possible of all those living with dementia, or caring for loved ones with the condition.

“With dementia affecting one in two of us in our lifetime, either by caring for someone with the condition, developing it ourselves, or both, it’s so important we give everyone the confidence to step forward and access the wide network of support already available in Rutland.

“From spreading the word about local dementia events on social media, to helping someone find the right bus, no matter how small an action is it can help shape the lives of those living with dementia in our communities.”
