Alicia Kearns MP has referred the sentencing by Justice Judge Nicholas Rowland of three boys at Southampton Crown on 21st May 2026 as unduly lenient for review under the unduly lenient sentencing scheme.
Alicia Kearns, Member of Parliament for Rutland and Stamford, said:
"This gang lured and gang-raped at knifepoint two young girls while they filmed it laughing. It was premeditated. They are repeat gang-rapists.
"On Friday morning I referred their sentences as unduly lenient - let’s see if this time the Government again says the rapists are too immature to receive stronger sentences.
"Justice has been denied. The Attorney General can restore confidence in the justice system.
"Judge Nicholas Rowland praised the boys for their conduct during the trial. “I think of you as very young and none of you have been in any big trouble before”. He also said this was “youthful misjudgment”. He was more focused on the rapists’ futures than those of the survivors."
