"A man of immense bravery, Jimmy Lai has been inhumanely convicted in a sham trial for his peaceful promotion of democracy, his journalism and his human rights advocacy.
"A British citizen, prosecuted for a crime which did not exist when he supposedly committed it, under a law designed for the purpose of punishing him."
