Alicia Kearns MP has launched her annual competition to find Rutland and Stamford’s favourite independent shop.
The awards seek not just to celebrate, but to also help raise the profile of local independent businesses across Rutland, Stamford, South Kesteven and the Harborough villages.
Last year’s competition saw over 20,400 votes cast, and crowned Harrison and Dunn in Stamford as the overall winner, receiving the highest number of votes in any category.
Following requests last year for more categories, there are 19 categories under which residents can nominate their favourite shops in this year’s competition:
- Beauty, pampering and wellness
- Bookshop
- Butchers
- Cafe
- Children and Babies
- Clothing and Accessories
- Craft and Hobby
- Farm and Produce
- Florists
- Food and Drink
- Garden
- Gifts and Stationery
- Hairdressers
- Homeware
- Music and Musical Instrument Shop
- Pets
- Pharmacy
- Village Shop
- Other
Nominations are open here.
Nominations close on Friday 12th December 2025 at 5pm, before a shortlist of shops is created and final voting opens in January 2026. Winners of the competition will be announced in February 2026.
