Alicia Kearns MP has spoken to Local Government Minister Jim McMahon about progress on Local Government Reform and protecting Rutland's ceremonial county status.

Alicia Kearns, Member of Parliament for Rutland and Stamford, said:

"The Minister assured me that following our meeting his officials are working closely with lawyers to identify a solution and he will update me once they have progressed further and can provide certainty they will protect our ceremonial status.

"I am optimistic the Government has listened to us, but we need them to commit to a specific course of action which will gives us certainty our ceremonial county status will be secured. Until then, I will continue to make our case, and put forward suggestions for how Govt can protect who we are."
