Leicester's Mayor and Leicester City Council have released their proposal for Local Government Reform.
The proposals are not just to include the villages from the city boundary, like Thurnby to Houghton on the Hill, but instead it is for all of the Harborough District being taken over by Leicester City.
The City Mayor is putting this forward as their “base proposal” to meet Government requirements not to split up Council areas. Although they argue their preferred option remains the one presented earlier this year - an expanded city taking over parts of Harborough up to Houghton on the Hill.
This is a huge land and tax grab by the City Mayor, we know the City will not and cannot represent our interests.
Alicia Kearns MP is urging residents to sign her petition. She will present the petition to City Hall to make your views known on 21st November.
