Alicia Kearns MP Opposes Mallard Pass Solar Farm Development

Thursday, 16 December, 2021

Alicia Kearns MP has written to Canadian Solar and Windel Energy, the developers of the proposed Mallard Pass Solar Farm, to set out her opposition to the proposed 2,175 acre development – which would be the UK’s largest solar farm by a factor of eight.

She believes, in common with many constituents, that the proposed development of this huge solar farm would cause significant damage to the natural environment (both in terms of the agricultural land, wildlife and the risk of flooding), to traffic on Rutland’s rural roads and to communities surrounding the proposed solar farm.

She has previously written to all affected local councillors to arrange a visit of the site, and urges the developers to rethink their plans.
