Work on the Melton Mowbray Distributor Bypass (MMDR) is now underway.

The advanced phase of work will allow GallifordTry to carry out site ecology, install safety fencing and complete archaeological investigation.

Alicia Kearns, MP for Rutland and Melton said:

"After more than 40 years of being promised this road, I am so pleased that we have been able to fight through the bureaucracy and the economic difficulties of the current times, to actually see it being built.

"I had a meeting with the Transport Minister recently to discuss additional funding from the Government to support this road, and I'm hopeful we will hear in the coming weeks."
